Ofsted 2018

From assistance with the cost of transport to supporting students to buy their own device for study, we’re here to help those that need it.

There is a bursary available for all Year 12/13 students who meet the eligibility criteria.  Students can apply if they are in one of the following groups:

  • Young people in care
  • Care leavers
  • Young people claiming Income Support
  • Disabled young people in receipt of Employment Support – Allowance and Disability Living Allowance
  • Young people in receipt of free school meals
  • Young people whose household income is below £24,000per annum
  • Young people who have been affected by a sudden, exceptional change in financial circumstances

The funds could be used for course related costs i.e.:

  • Books/equipment
  • Trips/visits
  • Transport
  • Meals
  • Exam fees

The bursary payments are paid directly into the student’s bank account provided they meet certain attendance and behaviour criteria:

  • Following a programme of study that consists of a minimum of 12 guided learning hours
  • Have 100% authorised attendance
  • Meet the required standard of behaviour and effort.

There is also the possibility of a discretionary bursary being available for one-off payments for situations of hardship or financial circumstances that arise which would hinder a student’s ability to continue in Post 16 education.  Please ask the Sixth Form office for details.
