The Abbey College has a long history of Performing Art events.  Students of all year groups are invited to join in with termly performances, mixing drama and music with other performance genre such as dance.  Independent work and practice is encouraged along with structured classes and rehearsals.  An annual school production involves lots of people coming together to put on a large scale musical with a live band made up of students and staff, working with various departments such as Art and Catering.

Students with a variety of talents and interests are able to get involved whether it be on stage or back stage and front of house.  Other opportunities for students include performing regularly in assemblies and at events such as graduations and open evenings.  Mrs Carr runs a weekly club for students of all ages interested in singing and performance.  This currently takes place on a Tuesday until 4:15pm and is open to anyone in the school.  Members of this Musical Theatre Singing club (MTS) are often invited to attend and perform at events outside of the school.  She also runs a club for those who like to sing, dance and act.  This Musical Theatre Performance club (MTP) is on Wednesday after school until 4:15 and is open to students who have a proven record of participation in the school productions and attendance is on an invitation only basis due to limited space. The school has at least 3 of its own concerts a year, plus a school production and hosts a Joint School Concert, working alongside other local schools in a large scale performance at the Abbey College.

We also offer a Young Technicians Training Scheme for those interested in event management, lighting, sound and stage management.  This is a paid for scheme run by an outside body and is open to students of any year group and meet on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm.  The opportunities are endless with our current students working as technicians at all our school events as well as outside at other schools and events such as Yaxley Festival and G Fest.  Details of the scheme can be found on the website www.youngtech.info and on our Young Technicians page.
