The Abbey College has a long history of Performing Art events.  Students of all year groups are invited to join in with termly performances, mixing drama and music with other performance genre such as dance.  Independent work and practice is encouraged along with structured classes and rehearsals.  An annual school production involves lots of people coming together to put on a large scale musical with a live band made up of students and staff, working with various departments such as Art and Catering.

Students with a variety of talents and interests are able to get involved whether it be on stage or back stage and front of house.  Other opportunities for students include performing regularly in assemblies and at events such as graduations and open evenings.  Mrs Carr runs a weekly club for students of all ages interested in singing and performance.  This currently takes place on a Wednesday until 4:15pm.  Members of this club are often invited to attend and perform at events outside of the school.

We also offer a Young Technicians Training Scheme for those interested in event management, lighting, sound and stage management.  This is a paid for scheme run by an outside body and is open to students of any year group and meet on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm.  The opportunities are endless with our current students working as technicians at all our school events as well as outside at other schools and events such as Yaxley Festival and G Fest.  Details of the scheme can be found on the website www.youngtech.info
