We are very excited to be share some exciting news about one of our sixth formers, Aerin Blood.

Aerin has always been an exceptional student at Abbey College, having achieved 12 A*s and 1 A in her GCSEs last year. Her hard work and determination to succeed has not stopped and last half term Aeirn applied, all by herself, to go to the winter Youth Assembly UN meeting, in New York.

The Youth Assembly is open to young people aged 16-28 and has thousands of applicants. We are delighted to say that she was accepted and over the February half term she took the trip over to New York alone and attended the 3 day conference. This is a massive undertaking for anyone, especially one so young, as Aerin did not know anyone but embraced the opportunity and was determined to learn as much as possible and to make the experience a positive one all round.

Aerin describes the experience as "inspiring" and states that "it has encouraged me to further pursue my interests in human rights and politics, especially hearing about the work other young people do - many leading NGOs or setting up charities". She also really enjoyed visiting New York for the first time and meeting so many amazing new people, many of whom were older and with qualifications such as Master's degrees.

This is a truly inspiring story and we congratulate Aerin on her amazing success and bravery, doing this alone, and really look forward to hearing about what she does next!
