Abbey College is the first school in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough to receive the Investing in Quality Award

Abbey College, Ramsey is celebrating being the first school in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to be awarded the Investing in Quality Award. The award was presented by Sue Houghton, Manager of Careers Education and Information, Advice and Guidance for Cambridgeshire County Council at a special ceremony held at the school on 15th July 2010.
This local award has been tailored to schools in the Cambridgeshire area who can demonstrate that students are well supported and prepared to achieve economic well-being though effective careers and work-related education. Developed by Connexions and integrated with local authority Children’s Services the award focuses on the five areas most relevant to schools and each module has a clear set of standards to ensure best practice in Careers Education, Guidance, Information, Personal Learning Planning and Work-related Learning.
Sue Houghton said:
“I am absolutely delighted that Abbey College has received this award. Everyone has worked hard over the years to achieve accreditation. I have been impressed by the importance that the school has given to this area of education.”
Lesley Pollard, Work-Related Learning & Careers Co-ordinator at Abbey College, commented:
“At Abbey College we feel that this work underpins the values of the whole school and helps the students to progress by ensuring that they are valued and that staff are approachable, especially in IAG work which encompasses careers guidance, the social studies curriculum and work-related learning. We are very pleased that the efforts of staff and students have been recognised by the presentation of this award.”
