Bugsy Malone is the latest Abbey College school production and according to many members of staff and audience is ‘the best school production yet’.  With a cast and crew of over 40 students from years 7 – 12 it was certainly a whole school production.  Mati, year 9, took the title role as the man himself and was excellent in his representation of the famous Bugsy Malone.  A very talented cast sang, danced and acted for 3 performances to a public audience.  The show was directed by Mr Hyde and produced by Mrs Carr.  The live band was made up of ASCA music tutors, students, Abbey College staff and guests and was directed by Mrs Carr.  With splurge and silly string a plenty (thanks to Mr Jones’s excellent splurge gun creation) it was a show enjoyed by all age groups –even if it was a little messy at times!  Refreshments were available and money raised from the sale of these has been sent to the ‘help Amelia Martin’ fund.

Discussions are already taking place as what production will be next, but in the meantime the Performing Arts department are looking forward to their next showcase of music, dance and drama  with items from the films and shows which takes place on Tuesday 8th May 2018 at 7pm.  This is open to the public and details can be found on their social media pages.
